How and when I decided to leave my abuser
The decis
ion to leave my abuser wasn’t easy.
I’d already fled one marriage in fear of my life, and the thought of facing the stigma of “another failed marriage” weighed heavily on me. But there comes a point where survival becomes non-negotiable — where your welfare, and that of your child, has to come first.
For me, that moment came on an ordinary Saturday morning. I was pottering about in the kitchen, hiding my tears from my three-year-old after yet another tongue-lashing from my husband. My little boy padded up to me, looked into my tear-stained face and said, “Don’t cry mummy, it’s OK. I’ll look after you.”
That shattered me.
How dare my three-year-old feel responsible for protecting me?
How dare his father create an environment where our son thought he needed to step in?
In that moment, something inside me snapped. I bundled us into the car and left.
Of course, leaving wasn’t the end of the story — far from it. I was manipulated back, faced the fight of my life to be reunited with my son, endured a decade-long legal battle, spiralled into chronic stress, major surgeries, and crippling debt. By the time my son finally came home to live with me, I was exhausted in every sense — mentally, physically, emotionally, financially.
And yet… I rebuilt.
Over the last few years, I’ve transformed every area of my life. My relationship of 13 years is stronger than ever. My finances, health, and career are thriving. And most importantly — I’ve created the freedom and strength to design what I call my Blockbuster Life.
That’s why I created Lights~Camera~Action. Because surviving abuse isn’t just about healing the wounds of the past — it’s about rewriting your story across every area of your life: love, money, health, career, spirituality. When one part is broken, the rest suffers. But when you rebuild with intention, you get to step into a life that’s not just safe… it’s extraordinary. It’s YOUR Blockbuster Life.
✨ If you’re ready to move beyond survival and start creating your Blockbuster Life after abuse, let me help you. You don’t have to do this alone — and you absolutely deserve more than “just getting by.”
